Ghostbusters Plasma Series Neutrona Wand (1984) Review From Hasbro Editor's Rating ★★★★★ Rated 5 out of 5 Age Recommendation 14 Share! Editor's Review This replica Neutrona Wand captures the look of the one in the original 1984 Ghostbusters film. Before you even open the box, you can tell this experience is fully designed for the collector in mind. The box is large, hefty, and covered in all kinds of detail, like warning labels and heavy weathering. Inside we get the main event! The Neutrona Wand feels hefty to handle, but not overly so, threading that delicate needle of ‘heavy’ yet ‘pleasant to carry’. It feels very solid in its construction, which is nice, but where it really shines is in the paint weathering and detail. The plastic facets of the wand are molded with warped, rough edges. Combined with selective metallic silver paint scuffs on corners and welding marks, it really does look like it’s made of entirely metal, at a glance. Of course there are some actual diecast metal parts in select areas (the silver diodes) which feel pleasantly cold to the touch. Even where there are stickers, they either blend in seamlessly, or look super weathered and cool. The only spot we don’t care for is one little paint brush spot on the front grip, but you have to be looking for it to notice. Everything else looks great, including the multicolored switches and buttons. Install 3 AA batteries into the hollowed out handle to really unlock the potential of this Neutrona Wand. Turn on the wand in 3 steps by flipping the switches near the back grip, and pull back the green lever to deploy the nozzle. Press the button near the third power switch to start bustin’ some ghosts! You can rotate the top dial to change the LED indicator and ‘reading’ sound feature. Here’s our favorite part: the orange bolt near the tip of the wand is actually a hidden button, which cycles you through all 4 ghostbusting modes, each with unique lights, patterns and sounds. The wand comes with a stand for displaying proudly on your shelf when not in use. If you happened to pick up Egon Spengler’s Proton Pack from HasLab (sold separately), this wand is fully compatible, can plug in via the hose, and store on the pack itself via the metal slider. Alternatively, you can use the metal hook to improvise a storage place on your person. Price Check $124.99 Should I get it? If you’re an OG ghostbusters buff, you’ve got to get your hands on this. It looks great on a shelf, and feels even better in hand. Pros The molding and paint detail are superb. It has great hand feel and weight. It has plenty of lights and sounds across 4 bustin’ modes. It comes with a stand and a very pretty box. It’s compatible with the HasLab Spangler’s Proton Pack if you own it. Cons The presence of a very slight paint imperfection on our copy. Batteries aren’t included.
